Shannon Sharpe appears to take subtle shot at Skip Bayless using Twitter
Shannon Sharpe appeared to take a subtle shot at Skip Bayless on Twitter Wednesday after it was reported he is set to leave FS1‘s “Undisputed” this summer.
Sharpe, who has been on the show alongside Bayless since 2016, liked a tweet saying that the duo’s relationship deteriorated over the past few years.
“Their relationship got progressively worse over the last 2 maybe 3 years because skip fought for him to be on that show but I feel like skip couldn’t stand Shannon succeeding without and that’s when skip was taking pot shots on air,” the tweet read.
Per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, Sharpe is expected to wrap up his duties following the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat after reaching a buyout with Fox Sports. Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay” podcast will also be leaving the network. It is currently unclear what FS1 will do to replace Sharpe on “Undisputed.”
Sharpe, 54, joined FS1 in 2016 alongside Bayless after the latter left ESPN‘s “First Take.” Sharpe filled in for Stephen A. Smith on multiple occasions, showing off his chemistry with Bayless. That chemistry made things easy for Fox Sports when they searched for a debating partner for Bayless.
In recent months, however, that partnership has been tested stemming from a controversial tweet Bayless put out after Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during a Week 17 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Shannon Sharpe’s future uncertain with ‘Undisputed’ exit on the horizon
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant,” Bayless wrote.

Sharpe no-showed “Undisputed” the following day. When he returned the next morning, he called out Bayless for not taking the tweet down. Bayless, meanwhile, said he stood by it.
“Let me finish,” Sharpe said. “I mean, I cannot even get through a monologue without you interrupting. … You can’t even let me finish my opening monologue.”
Sharpe revealed while talking with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo on “Mad Dog Unleashed” that he and his co-host were able to work things out behind the scenes.
“A lot of times, Mad Dog, people look at things like you can have 15 great years, and somebody has a bad moment, and they are willing to throw all of that away,” Sharpe said. “I wasn’t willing to throw the two months that Skip and I, we disagreed a lot, sometimes I think things went over the line. I didn’t want that, and so I appreciate everything Skip had done for me.
“Bringing me there, giving me an opportunity to show that I was more than a football player. I could talk about more in the sports world than just football. So, I wasn’t willing to throw that away. Skip and I just needed to get into a room and talk, and calmer heads prevailed.”
