Shannon Sharpe hints at next media venture: 'Stay tuned'
Shannon Sharpe is already moving on to his next business venture following his recent contract buyout with Fox Sports.
Days after the news broke, the three-time Super Bowl champion offered a glimpse of what will come next for him in the media realm. Sharpe took to Instagram to post a cryptic caption alongside several pictures of him in a garden flanked by cameras.
“Went out to the garden this morning. Took the time to pull some weeds, making room for this season’s flowers to grow,” Sharpe wrote in the post. “Stay tuned for the seeds I’m planting.”
Per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, Sharpe is expected to wrap up his duties following the conclusion of the 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat. His departure will end his seven-year tenure with the company and his partnership with Skip Bayless on ‘Undisputed.’ His popular podcast ‘Club Shay Shay’ will also leave the network.
The two have been reported to have had a falling out in recent months. The tension between the two has been seen live on air as well, particularly after a heated segment following Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin‘s injury last season. Sharpe was notably absent from the following day’s show, and now his departure has only added to the speculation of the state of their relationship — or lackthereof.

While Sharpe was vauge in his Instagram post, anything could be up next for the Pro Football Hall of Famer. One venture he could pursue is to have him jump ship to ESPN and join ‘First Take.’ Stephen A. Smith has already made it clear that he would love to have Sharpe on the show once his Fox Sports deal expires.
“And that I don’t know what his plans are. I don’t know what he’s trying to pursue. I don’t know what he’s after. But if Shannon Sharpe needs me, I’m happy to be here for him. And if that included him wanting to come on First Take, the bosses at ESPN know that is something I would support,” Smith said on Friday on the Stephen A. Smith Show.
Whether he decides to join Smith at ESPN, or move into a different area of media space, Sharpe is a massive personality that will take his fans with him wherever he chooses to go. All we have to do for now is stay tuned.
