Shannon Sharpe torches Jerry Jones over spat with Dallas radio host
Shannon Sharpe said on ESPN‘s “First Take” Tuesday he will be the “happiest man in the world” if the Dallas Cowboys (3-3) never win another playoff game under the ownership of Jerry Jones after he called out a radio host during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan.
Jones threatened the radio host’s job over his line of questioning, in which he asked Jones about his lack of moves in the offseason. Sharpe took exception to Jones’ response, saying he despises someone “that will prey on the weak.”
Shannon Sharpe: ‘I’m out’ on Jerry Jones
“To put a man in fear of his job, I hate, I detest, I despise someone that will prey on the weak,” Sharpe said, via Awful Announcing. “And because Jerry Jones is in an advantageous situation, because he has the power in this situation, [the fact that] he would actually say that publicly, that tells me a lot about a man. That will tell me a lot about a man who has power and will abuse that power. To tell that man I will get somebody else in here to ask me favorable questions — that is absolutely that guy’s job. … What do you think his job was?
“Jerry wants all the credit when things go well but none of the blame. He’s told us how many times, ‘The buck stops with me. Any deal that’s ever happened, I either signed off on it or I got notified of it.’ Now, you’re getting trounced. You’re getting run through like General [William T.] Sherman went through Atlanta during the Civil War, and now you want no part of it when they ask you about it.
“Boy, this is embarrassing. And I don’t take this lightly — if the Cowboys don’t win another playoff game or another game as long as Jerry Jones is the owner, I’ll be the happiest man in the world. For that man [Jones] to put that man in fear for his job, you know moving forward he’s not gonna ask him anything tough because that man needs that job. And for Jerry to say this publicly, and say I’m not laughing, I’m not joking — I’m out. I’m out, I’m out, I’m out.”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones rips Dallas radio host
Jones conducted his weekly appearance on “Shan and RJ” on the heels of Sunday’s 47-9 Week 6 blowout defeat to the Detroit Lions (4-1), their third consecutive loss at home this season. Jones told the host it’s “not your job” to question him “over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it.”
“This is not your job,” Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding. You’re not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this [NFL] meeting I’m going to today with 32 teams here, you’re geniuses.
“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.”
Dating back to the 48-32 defeat to the Green Bay Packers (4-2) in last season’s NFC Wild Card Round, the Cowboys have surrendered 167 points in their last four home contests. That is the third most over a four-game span at home in NFL history, per Todd Archer of ESPN.
The latest loss was their biggest at home since Jones purchased the team in 1989.
