Those who tune into TNT’s Inside the NBA regularly know that former NBA stars Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley like to constantly give each other grief. But it’s not just confined to the studio in Atlanta. Shaq recently trolled his colleague after adding a mammoth fish to his koi pond.

A large man himself, it’s only fitting that Shaq would add a giant koi to his pond. He received a 39-inch Yamaguchi koi, an absolutely enormous fish. After seeing this massive fish, O’Neal took a shot at Barkley.

“I’mma name this one Charles Barkley,” Shaq said, laughing. One of the individuals delivering the fish offered his own suggestion, referring to it as “Shakoi O’Neal.”

We’re sure Barkley will have plenty to say in response to Shaq’s jab. The two are constantly going back and forth, which is partly why the Inside the NBA studio show is so successful.

Regardless of what O’Neal ends up actually naming the fish, we can all agree that that’s one giant koi. It only makes sense that it found itself in the pond of a former NBA superstar, who stands over 7 feet tall.

Social media chimes in on Shaq’s joke

After viewing the clip on Instagram, several social media users had their own thoughts about Shaq’s joke. And a few others chimed in on the nickname, “Shakoi O’Neal.”

“How you gonna correct shaq? If he’s gonna name it Charles Barkley, you better believe his name be Charles,” one Instagram user wrote. Another added, “Dude was so amped to say that name……..crickets.”

One user went in-depth on how O’Neal reacted to the “Shakoi” name for the fish.

“Shaq didn’t like the name and tried to make a joke saying he’s going to change the name,” the individual wrote. “The owner didn’t catch the social cue and repeated the name, Shaq didn’t respond because it annoyed him. Work on your social awareness and social cues everyone.”

That’s a lot of feedback over a joke … regarding a fish. But, we also understand it’s the middle of summer and sports fans need something to stay entertained before the heart of the schedule heats back up.

Hopefully, this clip eventually makes its way onto TNT’s studio show at some point during the NBA season. It might be interesting to hear how Barkley responds to the video.
