With two days until Round 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wis., the draft stock of former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders remains all over the place. But there is a new favorite to land Sanders, per the latest odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who own pick No. 21, are the leaders in the clubhouse to draft Sanders at +190. The Cleveland Browns, picking No. 2, and the New York Giants, picking No. 3, are next at +200 and +215, respectively.

Over the last couple weeks, the New Orleans Saints were the favorite to take Sanders at No. 9. Now, the Saints are +700, fourth on the betting odds list. The major shift comes after Saints insider Jeff Duncan tweeted the following Tuesday morning:

“I’m not sure who the Saints are going to pick at No. 9 on Thursday night,” Duncan wrote. “But I think I can safely say that it won’t be Shedeur Sanders.”

Pittsburgh would appear to make a ton of sense. The Steelers only have Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson on the roster. Aaron Rodgers is still deciding if he wants to continue his NFL career or head into retirement. At this point, Pittsburgh can’t wait much longer; they need to figure out who is going to be under center in 2025.

Mike Tomlin talks about pre-draft meeting with Shedeur Sanders

It could very well be Sanders, whom Pittsburgh brought in for a pre-draft visit earlier this month. Head coach Mike Tomlin came away impressed by Sanders.

“I think the things that stood out were evident in his video,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “There’s a toughness there that doesn’t get talked about enough. There’s a competitive spirit there that doesn’t get talked about enough. I know he’s very talented, he’s made a lot of plays for his university and his team, but the intangibles and qualities displayed on tape were impressive to me.”

Sanders felt the same about Tomlin: “The Steelers were great,” Sanders said on NFL Network’s The Insiders with Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. “I understand now. I understand why they win so much, why Coach is the way he is. He resembles Dad a little bit. They have the same principles.”

Sanders put together a standout senior season at Colorado in 2024, leading the nation with a 74% completion percentage. He also totaled 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns while leading the Buffaloes to a bowl game as part of an impressive turnaround under Coach Prime, finishing 8-4 while making the Alamo Bowl.
