Round 4 has come and gone in the 2025 NFL Draft. Shedeur Sanders, a projected top pick heading into the festivities in Green Bay, remains available for all 32 teams to draft.

The unprecedented slide for the former Colorado star continues on Saturday. The reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year’s pure talent wasn’t enough to get him picked once again. With three rounds remaining, Sanders is still on the board. A shocking turn of events.

Many teams were linked to Sanders over the past couple of months — the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers, to name a few. All have drafted a quarterback during the 2025 NFL Draft, except for the Steelers. They opted for former Ohio State defender Jack Sawyer instead in Round 4.

That doesn’t mean the dream is dead for Sanders in the NFL. One team will give him a shot, but everything has changed for the former Colorado star in a short amount of time. Whether the Steelers look Sanders’ way in Round 5 remains to be seen, or if another team takes a chance on the quarterback’s talent.

All told, there’s a myriad of pundits shocked at Sanders’ slide, including ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper. He believed Sanders was the best quarterback in the 2025 class, and had a visceral reaction on Friday to another day of teams passing on him.

“You talk about cocky or confident, arrogant or charismatic, OK? Leadership. There’s not going to be a show. There’s not going to be a circus with Shedeur Sanders,” Kiper said. “Deion Sanders was one of the hardest working players in the history of this game. He brought with him a great work ethic. He was loved in every locker room.

“Shedeur Sanders will be the same thing. He will galvanize… I don’t know what people are thinking is going to happen when Shedeur Sanders is part of football team. He said he’s going to work, the players are going to rally around him, he’s going to be a hell of a quarterback in his league, and he will cause a lot of sleepless nights and a lot of anguish.”

Whether that comes to fruition or not remains to be seen. One thing is for sure, there isn’t anyone who expected Shedeur Sanders to still be available on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. Time will tell, but there’s bound to be a team that takes a chance on the former Colorado star on Saturday, but it didn’t happen in Round 4.
