Shedeur Sanders reportedly prank called by fake NFL team amid 2025 NFL Draft slide

Someone reportedly pranked called Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders pretending to be a member of a NFL team, saying he would have to “wait a little longer” in the NFL Draft. It’s not clear if the video is real, but it’s going viral.
Shedeur Sanders was projected to be a top-10 pick in the draft but has fallen out of the first and second round. As of this writing, Sanders has not been selected in the third round.
ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper had Sanders as the highest-ranked quarterback on his draft board and couldn’t believe he was not selected in the first round. “The guy that I’m going to be watching all night is obviously Shedeur,” Kiper said ahead of the draft on Friday. “We have had sliding quarterbacks that have done really well and have gone in the second round. Of course, Joe Montana was drafted in the third round back in 1979, when Jack Thompson went before him and Steve Fuller went before him.

Mel Kiper doesn’t understand why Shedeur Sanders is falling
“But, I think the second round or the third round. If he gets into the third round — it’s non-sensical right now — that’s ridiculous.” Sanders was the No. 1 QB and No. 5 overall prospect in Kiper’s NFL Draft Big Board on April 22. However, QBs Cam Ward (pick No. 1) and Jaxson Dart (pick No. 25) were taken in the first round of the draft, while Sanders’ name wasn’t called.
When the first round ended, Shedeur Sanders gave a speech to his family and friends. “We all didn’t expect this, of course, but I feel like with God, anything possible, everything possible,” Sanders said. “I don’t feel like this happened for no reason. All of this is, of course, fuel to the fire. Under no circumstances did we all know this was going to happen, but we understand we on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow’s the day. We going to be happy regardless. Legendary.”
