Shedeur Sanders speeding violation: Body cam footage released from traffic stop

Following a traffic stop for doing more than 100 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour speed zone, former Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is facing either a fine or a fight in court. And body cam footage has emerged of the traffic stop.
Sanders was pulled over along with another woman, who was reportedly driving 92 miles per hour. Officers informed Sanders that he was driving 101 miles per hour and would be ticketed.
The officer appeared to note that the woman driving 92 would not be ticketed, but that his hands were tied a bit with Sanders due to having a dash cam. You can view the complete footage of the body cam below.
Sanders was stopped at approximately 12:24 a.m. on June 17, driving an SUV. Police asked for his identifying information, and the vehicle appeared to have Colorado tags on it, based on the conversation. Sanders’ license was a Mississippi one, and the officer explained the process for what could occur should Sanders ignore the ticket.
The entire conversation seemed friendly and cordial. Neither party raised their voices in the three minutes of body cam footage available.
The former Colorado star was recently selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after a standout career at Colorado. He and Dillon Gabriel put together solid showings during the early part of the offseason program as they look to make their mark on the offense as rookies.
This past season at Colorado, Shedeur Sanders put together a standout year to help lead the Buffaloes’ impressive turnaround. He led the nation with a 74% completion percentage as he totaled 4,134 passing yards and 37 touchdowns.

Viewed as a potential first-round pick, Sanders fell down the board before Cleveland selected him as the No. 155 overall pick in the draft. However, he sees his journey similar to another quarterback slid on Draft Day – Tom Brady, who also called him after his slide came to an end.
“My story’s going to be similar,” Shedeur Sanders said. “I was a late-round draft pick, but we’re here now. None of that stuff matters. It just mattered on the day. I’m just excited to be here, ready to work.”
As mandatory minicamp went along, the rookies took center stage amid a crowded Browns quarterback room. ESPN’s Dan Graziano said Sanders looked the part and the Cleveland staff was working to “maximize reps” for both him and Gabriel ahead of training camp.
“Everybody’s happy with what Shedeur Sanders is doing. It’s just a question of getting everyone enough reps so that they can make a real evaluation,” Graziano said on SportsCenter. “You have the two veterans in Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco, and you have the two rookies in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Kevin Stefanski, the head coach, is designing practice in a way to maximize reps. There are periods where the rookies will be on one field doing seven-on-sevens or 11-on-11, while the veterans are on another field doing the same thing.
“So as we get into mini camp here, and as the Browns get into training camp, that’s going to be a big part of the story, is, how do they get everybody enough practice reps so that they can make a decision on who deserves to start week one.”
