For the first time since winning more gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone Biles got to see her husband play a football game. Jonathan Owens and the Chicago Bears made their home preseason debut against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, and Biles was in attendance.

Her fashion choice, however, raised some eyebrows. Biles wore a jacket with Owens on it – although the photos still featured him in his Green Bay Packers uniform.

Owens played his second preseason game with the Bears on Saturday after signing a two-year contract in Chicago. With one more preseason game to go, it’s safe to say there’s plenty of time for Biles to get photos of her husband in Bears colors on a jacket.

Owens started 11 games out of his 17 appearances in Green Bay over the last two years, totaling 84 tackles and two tackles for loss. It was a solid follow-up to the biggest year of his career in 2022 when he had 125 tackles and his first career sack for the Texans.

His arrival in Chicago coincided with the 2024 Paris Olympics. As a result, Matt Eberflus and the Bears’ coaching staff gave Owens permission to miss time in the early part of training camp to go to France to watch Biles compete. He saw quite a show as she won four medals – three gold and one silver – as she continued her dominance in gymnastics.

“Just because we respect the Olympics,” Eberflus said, via Courtney Cronin of ESPN. “That is a big deal, and he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that. We welcome that, and it’s going to be awesome. Go USA.”

Owens’ trip was featured in Hard Knocks, which is following the Bears through training camp this year. He’s also planning a Simone Biles-inspired celebration this season.

The Bears picked up their third preseason victory on Saturday, defeating the Bengals 27-3 behind a strong showing from Caleb Williams, who shook off a rough start. He finished the day 6-for-13 passing for 75 yards. He also ran in his first NFL touchdown. As for Owens, he had four tackles as the second team defense got some run for Chicago in the victory.

The Bears will wrap up the preseason on Thursday against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. From there, the sprint to Week 1 will begin when Chicago takes on the Tennessee Titans.
