It’s clear that Team USA gymnastics stars Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles have nothing but respect for Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.

Andrade won the gold medal in the women’s floor exercise final at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday, besting Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles, who earned the silver and bronze.

It was the first gold medal for Andrade at the 2024 Olympics, and Biles and Chiles made sure she got her due, bowing down to her during the medal ceremony. Check out the photos below:

Andrade’s gold medal on Monday came after the United States won gold in the women’s team final earlier at the Paris Olympics.

In addition to the team victory, Simone Biles also won gold in the women’s all-around final, with Rebeca Andrade earning the silver. The two also finished 1-2 in the women’s vault final, with Biles once again coming out on top.

However, on Monday, it was Andrade’s time to shine as she took first in the women’s floor routine with a score of 14.166, just ahead of Biles, who came in at 14.133. Chiles finished third with a score of 13.766.

Instead of being upset, the two Americans gave Andrade her due.

Previously at the Paris Olympics, Biles spoke about Rebeca Andrade and what it is like to compete against her. She acknowledged that the Brazilian is constantly pushing her.

“I’m excited and proud to compete with [Andrade], but I don’t like it no more,” Biles said, per NBC Olympics. “I mean, I’m getting uncomfortable, guys. I don’t like that feeling. I was stressing.

“I don’t want to compete with Rebeca no more. I’m tired. She’s way too close. I’ve never had an athlete that close, so it definitely put me on my toes and it brought up the best athlete in myself.”

Andrade made it clear that she has a ton of respect for Biles, too.

“It was really cool knowing that I made her work, right?” Andrade said of Biles through a translator, per NBC Olympics. “It’s an honor to be able to compete next to her.”

Biles battled through a calf injury on Monday as she earned her silver medal. The result was a surprising one for Biles, as it marked the first time in her career at the Olympics where she wasn’t able to win gold in a floor exercise final. Still, a silver medal is nothing to scoff at. It’s her fourth medal in Paris, with the other three being golds.
