Skip Bayless makes passionate plea regarding Mike Tomlin, Mike McCarthy
There are few bigger fans of the Dallas Cowboys than former FOX commentator Skip Bayless. He’s always shared his love of the team over the years and Bayless has been with the team through thick and thin. On Sunday evening, the former Fox commentator took to Twitter to make an interesting proposal, asking for the Cowboys to trade Mike McCarthy for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
Here’s the tweet he fired off on Sunday. “Please, Steelers, please trade Mike Tomlin for Mike McCarthy. Pretty please,” Bayless pleaded.
Unfortunately for Bayless, the chances of that happening appear to be very slim.
The Pittsburgh Steelers don’t plan to move on from Mike Tomlin despite another early exit from the NFL Playoffs, according to a report on Sunday from Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Steelers were dominated to the tune of a 28-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday night. And they had no answer for Ravens running back Derrick Henry, who once again proved why he’s one of the greatest players in the game’s history.
More on Mike McCarthy and the Dallas Cowboys
McCarthy has a 49-35 record with the Cowboys since taking over in 2019, including three straight 12-win seasons from 2020-22. This year was a rough go, however, as Dallas finished 7-10.

The interesting part about McCarthy’s contract talks, though, is the fact the Cowboys denied the Bears’ request to speak with him. If the two sides were heading toward divorce, Schefter pointed out it’d make sense for Dallas to grant Chicago permission. Still, the next few days are going to be interesting to see what lies ahead for both sides.
“It is interesting that you would turn down the Chicago Bears,” Schefter said. “If you had no interest in bringing back Mike McCarthy, why would you turn that request down? If you essentially were moving on from him and knew you were moving on, that would not be very considerate to deny him the chance to talk to a team now, that he could talk to next week.
“But the Dallas Cowboys, again, have not gotten a deal done with Mike McCarthy yet. And we’ll see if there’s a way the two sides can figure that out in the days to come before he’s allowed to talk to other teams next week.”
