Skip Bayless rips Jerry Jones over new Dak Prescott contract
There are a lot of happy folks in the Dallas Cowboys building now that quarterback Dak Prescott is under contract beyond the 2024 season. On the outside, however, some aren’t so pleased.
That includes Skip Bayless, who has often been critical of Prescott’s play over the years. After Prescott and the Cowboys agreed to terms on a four-year, $240 million deal Sunday, Bayless ripped team owner Jerry Jones for making the 31-year-old the highest-paid player in NFL history.
“Jerry Jones just made a QB who has stunk in 3 straight playoff losses – who is 2-5 in playoff games – the highest paid player in NFL history,” Bayless wrote on X. “This is why Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys have not even made it to an NFC Championship game in going on 30 years. Now I’m … STUCK WITH DAK.”
Bayless may not like it, but it’s reality; Prescott will continue to quarterback the Cowboys. Prescott is coming off a season in which he finished second in MVP voting, tossing a league-leading 37 touchdowns and throwing for 4,516 yards. He led the Cowboys to an NFC East title, but Dallas saw another promising season end in disappointment. The Green Bay Packers defeated the Cowboys, 48-32, in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Jerry Jones expresses confidence in Dak Prescott
The Cowboys are banking on Prescott being the quarterback to lift them even further in the postseason.
“It’s going to always be a test and a measurement when it comes to planning ahead. That’s a big thing,” Jones said Sunday. “We sit on eroding sand and things change every year. My assessment with where we’re going to be going in the future is we’re going to handle this. We’re going to be able to get players around him that give us a chance to compete for the Super Bowl. He was best chance of getting one.”
