Bryce Young is two games into his pro career and he’s already at work toward living up to his billing as a No. 1 overall pick. However, after his second start with the Carolina Panthers, Skip Bayless is all in on the 5’10” QB in Charlotte.

Bayless examined Young’s first two outings in the league during ‘Undisputed’ on Tuesday. To him, his collegiate experience was undervalued in his professional outlook considering how his poise and toughness have translated from the Crimson Tide to the Panthers.

“This kid is made of the right stuff. (His) intangibles are off the charts, durability has been off the charts,” said Bayless. “At Alabama, they raved about how he’s more put together than you’re giving him credit for because he took his pounding in the SEC. I know it’s college football but it is the highest level of college football. He took his shots and he jumped back up and kept firing.”

“Listen, Bryce hung in there and threw four or five really good balls where it raised your eyebrows,” Bayless said.

Young is 42-71 (59.2%) for 299 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions in a pair of divisional losses to Atlanta and New Orleans.

His performance on Monday Night Football against the Saints, though, was much better. Young posted more completions, passing yards, and rushing yards with a better completion rate and no interceptions

The outing impressed Bayless even more considering how good New Orleans’ defense is and how poor Carolina’s offensive approach and weapons are around Young.

“If you take ‘little, tiny’ Bryce in his second NFL start? And you put him behind a shaky offensive line against that pass rush and that scheme? And you say, ‘You can’t run the football at all’?” said Bayless. “Every running play was like, ‘I’m going to hand it off to Miles Sanders right here. He’s going to run into three New Orleans Saints within one second and he is going to go nowhere’. That’s our running game?”

“What’d I tell you at the end of the show yesterday? He has the worst group of weapons in the National Football League. There’s just Adam Thielen or bust,” Bayless pointed out.

Expectations for Young are certainly high as he continues on as a rookie and into the early stages of his career. That’s why, through two games, his play has encouraged Bayless’ belief that he’ll pan out at the next level.
