Skip Holtz shares special Father's Day message after winning 2024 UFL Championship
Skip Holtz has officially built the Birmingham Stallions into a dynasty. He brought them to their third straight championship on Sunday, posting an overall record of 32-4. In bringing home the 2024 UFL Championship, Holtz shared a special Father’s Day message on Sunday.
Shortly after the Stallions whipped the San Antonio Brahmas 25-0 in the 2024 UFL Championship Game, Holtz had this to say.
“You know what, to my father, Happy Father’s Day to ya. I’m sorry you couldn’t be here. But to all the father’s out there, Happy Father’s Day. Happy Father’s Day to all the father’s out there. We have a responsibility and today’s the day for us to acknowledge all the father’s and the effort you put in,” Holtz noted.
With the victory on Sunday, the Stallions have now won three consecutive spring football championships. They won the USFL title in 2022 and 2023 before the league merged with the XFL this year. Coach Skip Holtz has now led the Stallions to a title with three different starting quarterbacks in three years: J’Mar Smith (2022), Alex McGough (2023), and Adrian Martinez (2024).
Martinez was not only named the 2024 UFL MVP but he also won UFL Championship Game MVP honors. He completed 13 of his 23 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, while also adding 54 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on the ground. Former NFL legend and seven-time Super Bowl Trophy winner Tom Brady gave Martinez the UFL Championship Game trophy following the win.

Major College Football Playoff implications
Martinez spent his college football career with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Kansas State Wildcats. His best seasons with the Huskers came in 2018 and 2021, when he threw for over 2,600 yards and rushed for over 500 in both years. He only spent one season with the KSU Wildcats. For his entire college football career, he threw for over 9,700 yards and rushed for over 2,900 yards.
Sunday’s game featured a slow start for both teams. The score was 0-0 after the first quarter and Birmingham only led 8-0 at the end of the first half. But they got things rolling in the second half, putting up 17 unanswered points to put the game out of reach for good and ensure a championship.
The 2024 UFL Championship game was a matchup of the league’s best defenses. The Brahmas led the UFL by just allowing 15.3 points and 256.7 yards per game, whereas the Stallions finished second in both of those stats. They allowed 18 points per contest and 259.5 yards per outing.
