Son of Randy Moss denies Hall of Fame WR has liver cancer, blasts reporter
Randy Moss’ son Thaddeus refuted the recent report from Larry Fitzgerald Sr. saying that the elder Moss was diagnosed with liver cancer.
Randy Moss, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and one of the greatest wide receivers in NFL history, recently stepped away from ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown due to mysterious health issues. He declined to elaborate on his exact condition.
But once Fitzgerald’s report became public, Thaddeus Moss fired back.
“This is disgusting,” the 26-year-old Moss wrote to Fitzgerald Sr, via TMZ. “You have no right to try to make private matters public for the sake of engagement … “I do not believe my father talks to you so check your f***ing sources.”
Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre, who was active on Twitter this week, sent well wishes to Randy Moss in light of the reported news. Thaddeus Moss responded to Favre as well.
“Brett,” Thaddeus Moss wrote, “The support is appreciated, truly. This is not true. My father will address the world when he is ready to.”
ESPN released a statement at the time of Randy Moss stepping away from the show to focus on his health.
“Randy Moss will step away from ‘Sunday NFL Countdown’ for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge,” ESPN said in a statement. “He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on Dec. 1. For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion. He has ESPN‘s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

Moss revealed his health battle, without going into specifics, during his last appearance on the show a couple of weeks ago.
“Well good morning, man. I just wanted to share something with you all, man,” Moss said to open the show. “I put a post up maybe a few minutes ago on Instagram just telling people, just, you were talking about my eyes last week, and I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally.
“Have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys. I feel great. But if you all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful. Because I’m on television, man. I’m battling something, I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all and thanks for the prayers.”
Moss, who retired from the NFL after the 2012 season, joined ESPN as an analyst in 2016. Since then, he has appeared on Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night Countdown.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest receivers of all time, Moss ranks second in career touchdown receptions and is fourth in career receiving yards. He still holds the NFL single-season touchdown reception record (23 in 2007), as well as the NFL single-season touchdown reception record for a rookie (17 in 1998).
