South Carolina RB Dakereon Joyner declares for 2024 NFL Draft
South Carolina running back Dakereon Joyner declared for the 2024 NFL Draft, he announced on his Twitter page on Wednesday evening. The dynamic athlete scored touchdowns at multiple positions over the years for the Gamecocks.
As a runner, Joyner had 114 carries in his career for 445 yards and nine touchdowns. As a receiver, he hauled in 66 catches for 559 yards and three touchdowns. As a passer, he threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns in his Gamecock career.
“First and foremost, I want to thank god for blessing me with this gift to play the game I truly love,” Joyner said in his announcement.
“Gamecock Nation, it’s been an honor! Thank you all for the tremendous amount of love I received throughout these years. Your love and support has been unconditional. Like no other and I genuinely appreciate it. To my coaches who had my best interest at heart, I love y’all and thank y’all for believing in me. My journey here at the University of South Carolina didn’t go how I expected it to go, but it went how it was supposed to go. Through all the trials and tribulations, I’ve grown into a great father, son, mentor, and versatile player. So God I thank you! Some speculated I would be done playing ball, but I’m not done yet!”
“I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”–Phillipians 1:6
“With that being said, I am now looking forward to pursuing my childhood dream of entering the 2024 NFL Draft! #Blessup #DKOUT #CANTSTOPCINCO –Dakereon Joyner #5”

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.
The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.
To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.
Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.
The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
