Southern Miss running back Frank Gore, Jr. agrees to UDFA deal with Buffalo Bills
The son of a football legend has found a home in the National Football League. Even though he wasn’t drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, Southern Miss running back Frank Gore, Jr. clearly caught the eye of multiple teams across the National Football League. And on Saturday night shortly after the draft ended, Gore signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Buffalo Bills, according to Jordan Schultz.
Gore posted some pretty impressive numbers during his time with Southern Miss, finishing every season with at least 700 rushing yards. That also includes back-to-back seasons of over 1,100 rushing yards in his final two years at Hattiesburg. In 2022, he had 228 carries for 1,382 rushing yards with nine touchdowns. And in 2023, he finished with 231 carries for 1,131 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had at least 155 receiving yards in three straight seasons, including back-to-back seasons of more than 200 receiving yards (2022 and 2023).

Frank Gore, Sr. was fired up about his son joining the Bills
Shortly after he signed his UDFA deal, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports spoke with Frank Gore, Sr. And he was very emotional and happy about his son joining the franchise. “We’re good. We’re going to Buffalo man to do our thing. Tell them they better be ready-trust me. I know what I’m raising. Folks slept on my son; they slept on me too–they’ll see. My bloodline is for real. Our (pre-draft) testing was identical. All the scouts were like you can tell that’s my son. I !@%$ with (Brandon) Beane. He’s the real deal. I’m happy to get my son to this point. We’re coming to play. Buffalo got a dog; I promise you that. I don’t give a %#$ about a draft pick. We’re about to party and do our thing,” Anderson tweeted out on Saturday evening.
He won Offensive MVP in the East-West Shrine Game
Gore won Offensive MVP honors in the East-West Shrine Game this year, rushing for 87 yards total, including a 48-yard touchdown run. His performance in that game not only caught the attention of Chad Reuter of NFL.com, but Maurice Jones-Drew of NFL Network. “The son of future Hall of Fame running back Frank Gore is a tough, every-down runner who routinely makes the first guy miss,” Jones-Drew said. “He displayed his good vision and quickness during his Offensive MVP performance at the East-West Shrine Bowl. And he has the ability to contribute in the pass game as a solid route runner with good hands.”
