Spencer Rattler throws first career NFL TD pass
Former South Carolina and Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler threw his first career touchdown pass for the New Orleans Saints Sunday.
In an NFC South showdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rattler started in place of an injured Derek Carr. He made the most of his opportunity.
You can see Rattler’s first TD below as he threw it to Bub Means.
Coming into the game, Rattler was simply excited for the opportunity.
“I’m very excited,” Rattler said. “This is something you work toward your whole life … I’m very fortunate to be in this position … It sucks that Derek got hurt, a leader of our team, one of the best dudes in the building. But I have a job to do, gotta go out there and execute at a high level.”

So while the Saints may have something in Rattler, they might need him for a few weeks, considering Carr’s injury.
They are expecting to be without Carr for three to four weeks with his oblique injury, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Carr, 33, sustained the injury in the fourth quarter of the 26-13 Week 5 road defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs (5-0).
Carr, in his second season with the Saints after signing a four-year, $150 million deal in 2023, has thrown for 989 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions on 70.3% passing. The Saints had the league’s No. 1 ranked offense after the first two weeks but have cooled down significantly during their three-game losing streak.
After scoring 91 points in the first two games, New Orleans has put up just 49 points in its last three games.
