Spire Motorsports hires Matt McCall, Dax Gerringer to new roles for 2025 NASCAR season
While most of the driver signings are done with, there are still competition roles to fill for teams like Spire Motorsports. Spire has hired Matt McCall and Dax Gerringer to new competition roles for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Matt McCall recently departed RFK Racing after working as Brad Keselowski’s crew chief for three seasons. He is now the Director of Vehicle Performance at Spire. Dax Gerringer was previously the Lead Race Engineer at Stewart-Haas Racing. He spent nine seasons at SHR.
Spire Motorsports is continuing to grow. These are solid moves. McCall and Gerringer are industry veterans and will bring a lot to this expanding organization.
Between the Truck Series and Cup Series programs, there is a lot of good stuff happening at Spire. They went out and secured funding in 2023 and ever since then it has been one major move after another.
There is a lot of talent in the sport of NASCAR outside of the driver’s seat. Entire staffs are needed to make these cars go fast. I think we could see a marked improvement for Spire next season.

Spire Motorsports makes key hires ahead of 2025
Jeff Dickerson and his team have done a great job of hiring talent. Next season the organization will field three full-time teams for the second season. Justin Haley, Michael McDowell (2024 pole leader), and Carson Hocevar (2024 Rookie of the Year).
Those are three drivers that can not only compete at a high level, but can help you develop your program over time. McDowell helped build Front Row Motorsports into the organization it is today. Hocevar and Haley are two young drivers who have impressed at every level.
“This is a great addition for our team and one that means a lot to me, personally,” said Dickerson in a team release. “Matt is a longtime friend, one of my first handful of NASCAR clients I had when I was a young agent, and we’ve always shared the same view of how race cars work and race teams operate. I’m happy the stars finally aligned for us to work together, and I look forward to adding him to an already impressive group for 2025.”
Let’s not forget that Rodney Childers is joining Spire Motorsports next season as well. He will be paired with Justin Haley which will really put pressure on him to perform at a high level.
