Spire Motorsports invites Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark to NASCAR race
It looks like Spire Motorsports is hoping to add Iowa women’s basketball superstar Caitlin Clark to their team.
On Tuesday, Spire partner Gainbridge announced they’ve come to a deal with Clark, who’s fresh off breaking the NCAA scoring record. Now, the NASCAR team is looking to capitalize on her popularity, and the newfound commonality between the two parties.
Check out Spire taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) to try to connect with Clark, even looking to have the Iowa star come out to a race, as there’s a new date in the state this season for the Cup Series.
“Happy to have you on the Gainbridge team, @CaitlinClark22! We hope to get you out to a race soon!” Spire Motorsports posted on X. “We hear there’s one in Iowa.”
Now that would be a huge boon to Spire’s rising popularity in the Cup Series. They’re already been on the upswing with talent like Corey LaJoie and Carson Hocevar in their vehicles, bringing Clark in as a fan of the team would be a nice spike in the team’s spot in the pop culture world.

Moreover, Clark released a statement regarding her partnership with Gainbridge. The company will also be rolling out a new product named ParityFlex, which is a multi-year guaranteed annuity product created for women, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
“I am honored to be part of the company’s deepening commitment to advancing opportunities for women, on and off the court, like this visionary new product for women,’’ Clark said in a statement. “Women of all ages need to think about their long-term financial goals. The ParityFlex product is designed to allow women to begin building their financial future now.”
Continuing, we’ve seen more athletes and celebrities from other parts of the world get into NASCAR over the last couple of seasons, from NFL running back Alvin Kamara to music superstar Pitbull. If Spire is able to bring Clark into the fold, it could allow a whole new demographic to get into the Cup Series, and that’s never a bad thing.
We’ll see if Caitlin Clark takes Spire up on their offer to come to the track. The Hawkeyes star already has Gainbridge in common with the team, so perhaps her fandom would help Spire reach their lofty 2024 goals in the Cup Series.
