This offseason, Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan brought in veteran wide receiver, Allen Robinson. Already, he’s having a huge impact on one of the team’s young and promising wide receivers, George Pickens.

During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Khan broke down the relationship between these two wide receivers.

“George keeps doing George things,” Omar Khan said. “They’re pretty special and unique things. He’s growing. He’s progressing. We’ll see where he is from here one to year two, but I’ll tell you the guy that’s had a real impact on him too is we added Allen Robinson this year.”

Allen Robinson has been in the NFL for nearly a decade now, proving to be a talented contributor everywhere he’s been. Most recently, that was with the Los Angeles Rams. Now in Pittsburgh, he’s obviously embraced a mentor’s role.

“Allen is an ultimate pro, and I think he’s been great for George and Diontae [Johnson], really all the guys in the receivers room.”

Omar Khan emphasized just how important having veterans like Robinson is to a team.

“It’s a big deal. Guys like Allen and Pat Peterson and Cam Heyward and TJ Watt. We added Elandon Roberts. Isaac Seumalo. Those guys truly have an impact, especially on the young guys.”

There are few young wide receivers as exciting to mentor as George Pickens. Now in his second season, Pickens is one of the most talented young players in the game. He also seems to be getting better, with Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett praising his improved route running.

“He’s definitely worked on his routes,” Pickett said. “The full route tree he has, the crispness with his routes. He’s locked in mentally. He’s doing a good job learning the system and playing different spots, so we can move him around more, which is great.”

George Pickens made a phenomenal catch in practice

Looking to improve on the defensive side of the ball, Omar Khan and the Steelers took Joey Porter Jr. in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The stud defensive back looks like he has a promising career ahead of him and the team was happy with the pick.

However, George Pickens was a great pick from the year before and while matched up in practice he showed off just how talented he is by making a phenomenal catch. You can watch it here.

It was really good man coverage from Porter Jr. The problem was that the comeback move from Pickens and his one-handed catch was simply better.

Naturally, the clip went viral as the excitement about Pickens and his career continues to grow.
