The Pittsburgh Steelers are on their best stretch of the 2022 season so far with three wins in their last four games. Now, one of their key pieces may be returning to the lineup soon after he took an important step today.

Per a release from the franchise, the Steelers say kicker Chris Boswell returned to practice on Thursday. He remains on injured reserve as of now but may be closer to getting their one-time Pro Bowl kicker back.

Boswell has kicked 12/16 (75%) on field goals so far this year as well as 9/9 on extra points. He kicked for the first seven weeks but has missed the last five games with a right groin injury. Boswell missed the team’s loss at Philadelphia before spending the remaining weeks on IR.

Matthew Wright has kicked well in Boswell’s absence as he’s 12-14 (85.7%) on field goals and 7/7 on extra points over the last four weeks. Still, getting Boswell, the team’s leading scorer, back on the field could further help Pittsburgh’s chances to make a late playoff push. It all depends on how he progresses in practice, though, and when or if the team activates him within the next 21 days.
