A Pittsburgh specialist put Steelers’ fans recognition skills to the test during training camp this year. Christian Kuntz, a veteran long snapper for the team, went undercover as a ticket scanner during one of the team’s practices in August.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a very recognizable face. Well, at least that’s what we learned based on a video posted by the team.

During a summer practice, Kuntz went undercover in his training camp staff clothes, put on a ball cap and scanned tickets for fans attending. Nobody heading to the practice seemed to know they were in the presence of an NFL player.

Kuntz frequently asked spectators which players they wanted to see. Linebacker T.J. Watt and quarterback Kenny Pickett were among the most popular answers — which should come as no surprise.

He then had to ask (appropriately), if anyone went to practice to see the long snapper. You can probably imagine how that went. But, just in case, below is the video posted by the Steelers’ social media team:

While we’re sure it’s disappointing to not get as much recognition as Watt or Pickett, nobody said anything poorly of the long snapper. And everyone seemed to agree that they enjoyed seeing everyone at training camp … even the specialists.

So you take the wins where you can get them! Plus, one gentleman proved to be very kind at the end of the clip.

Kuntz is entering his third season as a member of the Steelers, joining the squad in 2021. He played college football at Duquesne and was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. He then had offseason or practice squad stops with the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars before finding a home in Pittsburgh.

Christian Kuntz inks 1-year deal with Steelers

Kuntz agreed to a one-year deal to remain in Pittsburgh back in February. The veteran will enter his third season with the team in 2023.

In 2021, Kuntz edged out Kameron Canady for the starting job at long snapper. Per TribLive.com, he inked a deal for the veteran league minimum of $940,000.

Kuntz has appeared in every regular season contest for the Steelers over the last two years, playing in 34 career games. Last year, Pittsburgh ended the season with a 9-8 record, narrowly missing out on a playoff berth.

Pittsburgh begins its regular season on Sunday, Sept. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
