Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Allen Robinson is looking forward to training camp coming off an injury-riddled season with the Los Angeles Rams.

Limited to just 10 games due to foot surgery, Robinson said he’s beginning to knock the rust off in his recovery.

“Physically getting there,” Robinson said this week at OTAs. “This is the third practice that I’ve gone up against defenders in six months. For me it’s just about continuing to push myself and make sure I’m getting accomplished on a day-to-day basis what I want I to get accomplished.

“I’ve been able to do that. Being able to knock some of the rust off on certain things, being able to get back to releases against defenders and stuff like that. For me, I’m always trying to push the dial and trying to get things back to how I’m accustomed to being.”

The Steelers acquired Robinson, 29, in April for 2023 seventh-round draft pick. The Rams will pay $10.25 million of Robinson’s $15.25 million guaranteed salary for the 2023 season. The Steelers, meanwhile, will pay the remaining $5 million.

It’s a homecoming of sorts for Robinson, who played his college ball at Penn State. Robinson earned consensus All-American honors his junior season with the Nittany Lions. He hauled in 97 receptions for 1,432 yards and six touchdowns. The Jaguars selected him with pick No. 61 in the second-round of the 2014 NFL Draft. In 2015, Robinson earned his first and only Pro Bowl nomination. Robinson compiled 80 catches for 1,400 yards and a league-leading 14 scores.

Robinson spent four seasons in Jacksonville before signing with the Bears on a three-year, $42 million deal. He served as Chicago’s top wideout for four seasons, racking up 3,561 yards and 18 touchdowns in 57 games.

Robinson became a free agent after the 2021 season, and quickly inked a three-year, $46.5 million deal with Los Angeles. Brought in to help replace the production of Odell Beckham Jr. and Robert Woods, Robinson’s one-year stint with the Rams was a dud as he hauled in 33 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns.

Robinson’s main focus is “getting back to myself,” and helping the Steelers improve upon their 9-8 campaign in 2022.

“For me, honestly, you know, the main thing has just been learning the offense and getting back to myself,” Robinson told Corey Crisan of DK Pittsburgh Sports. “That has preceded everything else. The transition and the move and things like that, I’ve had people help me with, so that hasn’t been too much of an issue. The main thing since the trade happened was I wanted to get back to Allen Robinson on the field. That was the most important thing before that. That preceded everything else.

“So, with that being my mindset and my focus I’ve been able to get the ball rolling and to be able to stack blocks and continue to be able to move forward through this process over the past month and a half or so, which is what I planned on doing. Now it’s just continuing to push things forward and moving this train forward, and I’m looking forward to training camp.”
