Report: Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills bridging the gap after absence at minicamp
The Buffalo Bills and Stefon Diggs are reportedly bridging the gap after his absence at minicamp, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Diggs broke his silence regarding the situation, but didn’t provide any nitty-gritty details. Quarterback Josh Allen claimed Diggs and the team were working on things internally.
Fowler joined SportsCenter to explain the latest with the disgruntled star wide receiver.
“The Bills believe they’re in a good spot with Stefon Diggs,” Fowler said. “They believe and expect that he will be at training camp in late July. So I asked around for the last few days. Here’s what I was told: Tuesday was described to me as a little bit tense.
“The Bills had some meetings, you know, some type of closed-door meetings with Diggs, and some key members, presumably head coach Sean McDermott, and presumably at some point quarterback Josh Allen. the feeling this offseason that those two had to have a conversation. It was productive at some point.”
There was some initial concern regarding Diggs’ absence. But now that he’s back on the field, things look like they’re headed in the right direction.
“Now, when Sean McDermott took the podium on Tuesday and said he was very concerned that Diggs wasn’t around,” Fowler said. “My sense is things were not resolved at that point. But they did get resolved by the end of Tuesday, and a source is pretty adamant that Diggs would not have practiced on the field Wednesday had things not been right. So in other words, that was not for show for him to just show up on Wednesday.

“So the Bills believe they’re in a good spot. Still some ambiguity here. All I know is that when he left the season at the end there, there was an uneasy feeling with Diggs and the team they believe they bridge the gap a little bit.”
SportsCenter host Randy Scott asked if Diggs’ unhappiness stemmed from the frustration regarding his role in the offense.
“I believe so,” Fowler said. “It’s still unclear. Nobody wants to say what it was. I do believe that was part of it.”
Money would appear to not be a factor, as Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million extension ahead of last season. Diggs, 29, is coming off a season in which he hauled in 108 receptions for 1,429 yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns. He earned his third Pro Bowl nomination in as many years with the Bills.
