Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans reported trade details revealed
Stefon Diggs will play for the Houston Texans this fall, and the trade details have been revealed. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Texans wiped out the final three years on the contract, giving the star wide receiver the ability to become a free agent after the 2024 season. The Texans also took the $3.5 million guaranteed to Diggs next season and moved up to this year, meaning he will receive $22.52 million in guaranteed money in 2024.
Diggs was traded to the Texans from the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday. Houston also acquired a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick. In return, the Bills received a 2025 second-round draft pick, which the Texans received when they traded their 2024 first-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings.
Stefon Diggs had a memorable run in Buffalo
Diggs joined the Bills in 2020 after spending five seasons with the Vikings. During his time in Buffalo, Diggs was named to the Pro Bowl four times and the All-Pro Team twice. His best season was in 2020 when he led the NFL in receptions (127) and yards (1,535). On Apr. 6, 2022, Diggs signed a four-year, $96 million contract extension with Buffalo.
Bills general manager Brandon Beane explained why the team traded Diggs. “These moves are never easy — very hard, not made overnight, anything like that — but any time you make a move like this, as I said, very difficult, you’re doing it because you’re trying to win,” Beane explained Wednesday. “Sometimes people may not see that. This is by no means the Bills giving up or trying to take a step back or anything like that.

“Everything we do, we’re trying to win, and we’re going to continue to do that. It’s April the 3rd, and we’ll continue to work on this roster and make sure we’re ready to play come September.”
Following the trade, Diggs went to social media to say goodbye to the Bills fans. He wrote: “Something special was built over these years with some very special men, that will always have a place in my heart. Bills mafia, so many great memories created throughout the years. Those games were crazy because of you. Sadly good things come to an end until we meet again.”
Diggs joins a Texans team that won the AFC South last season. The team features quarterback C.J. Stroud who won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2023. Linebacker Will Anderson also had a strong 2023 season as he was named Defensive Rookie of the Year.
