Stephen A. Smith elicited a spit-take from Molly Qerim on Tuesday’s episode of ESPN’s First Take, as he decided to compare himself to Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Ahead of Super Bowl LIX, where Mahomes and the Chiefs will attempt to complete a three-peat, Kansas City has received a ton of hate for their sustained success. Evidently, that’s something Smith believes he can relate with, as he put himself in the shoes of the three-time MVP-winning quarterback.

“I would know something about that. I’m considered one of the most annoying people in television. Why do you think that is? I certainly can relate,” Smith stated, regarding Mahomes and the Chiefs’ success being perceived as annoying, which caused Qerim to literally spit out her drink. “… Keep on hating, because I’m going to keep on winning.”

While the statement might sound a little asinine at first, Smith has some points, as First Take is continually atop the ratings, as it pertains to sports media. Whether he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Mahomes is up for debate though, and an argument for another time.

Regardless, Stephen A. Smith has built a career on being confident and entertaining, and that’s exactly what he’ll continue to do. It remains to be seen if he’ll be rooting for Patrick Mahomes to win his third consecutive Super Bowl and fourth overall though. You’re going to have to keep tuning into First Take to find out.

More on Patrick Mahomes, Super Bowl LIX

Even with the star power of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, ticket prices for Super Bowl LIX are dropping as it gets closer to kickoff. According to the ticket resale app Gametime (per TMZ Sports), the get-in prices for this weekend’s clash for the reigning, back-to-back champions vs. Philadelphia Eagles are decreasing.

The lowest ticket price is $4,339. That’s a lot of money, but it’s down from $5,680 last Friday and $6,375 on Jan. 27. The most expensive ticket is set at $29,693. That’s a major drop from the $58,237 price that was set on Jan. 31.

TMZ Sports pointed out that the ticket prices for this year’s Super Bowl are lower than last year when the Chiefs took on the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas. Per Gametime, the lowest-priced ticket was $8,764, and the highest-priced was $37,620.

All told, it doesn’t matter to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs how ticket prices fluctuate ahead of the game. Winning a third consecutive Super Bowl is the only thing on their mind, and if the general public is getting a little tired of their success, so be it.
