With the Philadelphia Eagles winning the Super Bowl, Dak Prescott was asked how close to Dallas Cowboys are to their bitter NFC East rival. He responded by saying “very close” believing it’s the Cowboys’ time to win the Super Bowl.

Those comments did not sit well with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, saying Prescott is “delusional.” Smith says the proof is already out there that Dallas will not find postseason success with Prescott under center.

“Clearly delusional,” Smith said. “This is Dak Prescott, when has he not been delusional? I mean, we’ve seen evidence of this time and time again from this guy.”

Prescott has led the Cowboys to the playoffs on five occasions, only winning two games. The Divisional Round is as far as they have gone, dating further than when Prescott was with the team. Dallas has not made the NFC Championship game since 1996, nearly going on a 30-year drought.

Smith also pointed out how Jayden Daniels, a rookie quarterback within the division, took no time getting into the NFC title game. Between the Washington Commanders finding something in Daniels and the Eagles now winning two titles since 2017, Smith handed Prescott some advice.

“He just needs to go some place and be quiet. The fact of the matter is that right now, the reigning, defending Super Bowl champions are in the NFC East, Philadelphia Eagles. The team they beat in the NFC Championship game are the Washington Commanders who has the offensive Rookie of the Year in Jayden Daniels who was nothing short of sensational… We have a situation where Dak Prescott is entering his tenth year and a guy that was drafted in the second round has been to two Super Bowls and won one now. And a rookie has been to an NFC Championship game in his first year.

“But Dak Prescott has been in the league for 10 years and ain’t been to an NFC Championship game. But he talking. You’d think you wouldn’t be so tone deaf, have the decency to recognize your position and say ‘I might need to shut the hell up.'”

The Cowboys will enter the 2025 season once again filled with hope of finding postseason success. Prescott is coming off another long-term injury after missing 11 games. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer provides a new voice at the top, with folks in Dallas praying they soon find similar success to their NFC East rivals.
