Stephen A. Smith ‘would definitely consider’ running for President of the United States
Stephen A. Smith is setting the record straight on if he would ever run for President of the United States on the heels of Donald Trump winning the 2024 election. While appearing on The View on Thursday, the ESPN personality was asked if he would ever consider running for President since people said he would be good at the position.
“I have said this on many occasions, the answer would be hell no because I like my life. I’m living a pretty good life,” Smith said. “But I must confess, I wish I could debate some of these guys. I’d love to be on a debate stage going up against these guys. I’m half-joking but I kind of mean it. I mean I have no desire to be a congressional figure or a senator. But if you came to me and you told me I had a legitimate shot to win the Presidency of the United States of America, I would definitely consider it.”
Smith also said he would “break through the line” to be President. “Because others have, including democrats, by the way,” Smith stated. “I mean they broke the line, what’s wrong with me doing it? But I would be an independent because I don’t like either side and I’m not going to be bought and paid for. I’m going to do what I believe is in the best interest of the American people, whatever that may be. I’m going to make my decisions, and I’m going to stand on them.”

Stephen A. Smith talks presidential race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris
What’s interesting about Stephen A. Smith talking about running for president is he recently appeared on the Fox News show Hannity to discuss the presidential race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. While speaking with conservative host Sean Hannity, Smith defended Harris who was heavily criticized by Hannity.
“The bottom line is this: As vice president of the United States, it wasn’t her job to lead. She has to go along with the program. You are a support base. You support the person that is in charge, who happens to be Joe Biden,” Smith explained, per The Hollywood Reporter. “That’s number one. Number two, I know you’re not talking about someone being lucid and cogent and enunciating their thoughts with clarity and you’re bragging about Donald Trump. We can’t be watching the same stuff if that’s what you’re doing!”
