Stewart Friesen shares update on his injuries after hospitalization following Talladega wreck
NASCAR Truck Series driver Stewart Friesen has provided an update on his status following a wreck at Talladega over the weekend. And while he’s experiencing some pain, Friesen is going to attempt to get behind the wheel again.
In a Facebook post shared by FOX’s Bob Pockrass, Friesen provided fans with an update on his status. He says that he’s been experiencing some pain, but nothing too extreme at this time.
“The area of concern is the L2, L3 vertebrae, which were, I guess kinda squished in the accident,” Friesen said. “So, the big question is, where do we go now, where do we go from here as far as racing?
“Like I’ve said, I’ve been in a little bit of pain. It hasn’t been too bad. After consulting with (the doctor), my family, our race team … I’m gonna try and give it a shot.”
You can see Friesen’s complete update in the video below:
Friesen says he plans to let pain level be his guide as to whether he can drive in modified races or not. If it becomes unbearable, he’ll step out of the car. He also took time to thank doctors, friends, family and fans for the help and support during the incident.
After the wreck on Saturday, Friesen and Greg Van Alst were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The final race comes on Friday, Nov. 3 when the Truck Series heads over to Phoenix Raceway for the Championship 4. The Craftsman 150 will be the final race in determining the series champion.
