Streakers interrupt Super Bowl LVIII during third quarter
Two streakers interrupted Super Bowl LVIII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers during the middle of the third quarter, briefly halting play.
The fans ran onto the field after a third-and-8 from the San Francisco 41-yard line, doing so behind the action.
Because the streakers were on the opposite end of the field from play, cameras didn’t catch them live. But CBS announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo were interrupted during their call and briefly noted it, before saying they weren’t allowed to talk about it.
Cameras on the broadcast never panned to the streakers, but some intrepid filmers inside the stadium caught footage of it.
You can check out the tail end of it below.
Play was halted only briefly, and when it resumed, Kansas City opted to try a field goal on a fourth-and-6 from the San Francisco 39-yard line.

Kicker Harrison Butker converted from 57 yards out, setting a new Super Bowl record. Interestingly enough it was the second time in the game that field goal record had been broken, with San Francisco kicker Jake Moody hitting from 55 yards to break the mark earlier in the game.
The kick made it 10-6 San Francisco with a few minutes remaining in the third quarter.
But Kansas City would take the lead shortly after, following a special teams miscue.
On a punt from the Chiefs’ Tommy Townsend, the ball struck a 49ers blocker and rolled back toward the return man. Darrell Luter was credited with a muffed punt, and Kansas City’s Jaylen Watson was able to jump on it.
Kansas City took full advantage one play later, when Patrick Mahomes hit receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling for a 16-yard touchdown pass, giving Kansas City a 13-10 lead.
The fourth quarter began with that score, promising a fun final frame of action.
For what it’s worth, the prop bet on whether an unauthorized person would enter the field of play was +300 for yes and -500 for no, according to a tweet from Darren Rovell.
