Well, this is embarassing. Not for us, but for Stugotz, the radio host who confused a country star with Aaron Rodgers.

Yes, this really happened. Stugotz is based in Miami. And earlier this week he was on site for the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament in Lake Tahoe. There was a point when Stugotz committed a huge, know-your-celebrity faux pas. Cause Stugotz thought country singer Jake Owen was Aaron Rodgers, the new Jet.

If you squint your eyes, you can sort of see the resemblence. Here’s a photo of Owen from Wednesday’s round. Owen is the golfer in red.

Srugotz thought he was talking to AAron Rodgers rather than country star Jake Owen. If we’re honest, Own does kind of look like Rodgers. He’s the guy in red on the far right. He posed with Canelo Alvarez, Dell Curry and Steph Curry.. (Isaiah Vazquez/Clarkson Creative/Getty Images)

Stugotz told his fellow radio hosts that he spent 20 minutes talking to the guy he thought was Aaron Rodgers. “You’re my quarterback,” he told Owen as he patted the country star on the tummy. To be fair, Rodgers has worn a beard and let his hair go shaggy in past seasons. Frankly, he looked a lot like that last year while he still was with the Packers.

But Rodgers is going with shorter hair in 2023. It’s like he went a bit more Wall Street corporate when he switched from Green Bay to NYC. The quarterback also is playing the tournament. And he’s hanging out with friend Miles Teller (Rooster from Top Gun: Maverick, last year’s biggest blockbuster).

Radio personality Stugotz wanted to arrange an interview with THE Aaron Rodgers. But he pitched the idea to faux Rodgers, otherwise known as Jake Owen. (Isaiah Vazquez/Clarkson Creative/Getty Images)

Stugotz said he sold fake Aaron Rodgers on appearing on his show because there would be no Dan LeBatard. That probably confused Owen.

“I said listen, you’re going to come right there,” Stugotz said to Owen. “We’re going to talk Jets. We’re going to talk shrooms. (And) we’re going to talk what kind of incredible road trip I’d been on which he was actually asking me many, many questions about. And I said, here’s my promise to you, No Dan.”

But oops. Stugotz eventually realized his Aaron Rodgers mistake.

“I’ve been thinking about this.” he told his audience. “And I’ve been thinking like just going through the details of the conversation, the many different ways I must have freaked out Jake Owen. And it’s kept me up most of the night. I’m a little tired. I’ve got to be honest. I was hugging him. I was patting him on the stomach. I’m like You’re my quarterback. You’re my quarterback. And Jake Owen’s going I am, I am because he starts to sink into it and I love you Jake Owen for doing it. You have become the target now this week. I don’t care if we get another guest on. I just want Jake Owen. And I want him to talk us through the conversation and how uncomfortable he was and when he decided you know what? I’m just going to roll with this.”
