Sunday Night Football broadcast provides injury update on Aaron Rodgers
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was dealing with a broken thumb heading into a Sunday Night Football contest against the Eagles, and he unfortunately suffered a separate injury during the game.
Rodgers was seen wincing in pain and holding his side near the end of the third quarter, and NBC’s Melissa Stark revealed that he suffered an injury to his ribs. The quarterback finished out the remainder of the drive, but was seen jogging to the locker room after a field goal from Mason Crosby.
“Before this drive, Aaron Rodgers was surrounded by the medical staff,” Stark said. “He had a conversation with the doctor and head athletic trainer they were poking and prodding at his ribs. The front side, the back side. You could see him grimacing in pain and then walked over and put his helmet on and is clear back in, but we’re monitoring the situation.”

Later in the broadcast, it was revealed that Rodgers suffered an oblique injury and he was seen returning to the sidelines without a jersey or pads on, indicating he is done for the evening. The Packers trail the Eagles 34-23 at the end of the third quarter.

Prior to his injury, Aaron Rodgers was 11-of-16 passing for 140 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions and had been sacked three times for a loss of 17 yards. Jordan Love will step in and finish out the remainder of the game as Green Bay attempts to make a comeback.
This season has not gone according to plan at all for the Packers, who sit at just 4-7. Unless Love can pull off a miracle and somehow lead them to victory in the fourth quarter, their hopes of making the playoffs are about to take another huge hit.
