Super Bowl LIX will be a battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, and 13 players from both teams come from two notable colleges. When fans watch the championship game, they will notice that seven players are from Oklahoma and six are from Georgia.

The seven from Oklahoma are Chiefs players Hollywood Brown and Samaje Perine, James Winchester, Creed Humphrey, Wanya Morris, and Eagles players Jalen Hurts and Lane Johnson. The six from Georgia are Chiefs defensive lineman Malik Herring and Eagles players Nolan Smith Jr., Kelee Ringo, Lewis Cine, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

One would say the Super Bowl is a championship contest between Oklahoma and Georgia. However, four additional players are from Florida and another four are from Alabama. The former Florida stars are Chiefs players D.J. Humphries and Jawaan Taylor, and Eagles players C.J. Gardner-Johnson and Fred Johnson. The former Alabama stars are Eagles players DeVonta Smith, Eli Ricks, Tyler Steen and Landon Dickerson.

As Fox Sports pointed out, Clemson, Florida State, Memphis, Michigan, Texas, Penn State and Stanford have three players represented in Super Bowl LIX. Additionally, 12 colleges have two players in the big game, including Georgia Tech, USC, Washington, Wisconsin and Texas A&M.

Notable college stars to make a big impact in Super Bowl LIX

Super Bowl LIX will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs won the contest 38-35 to earn their second Super Bowl title in four seasons. And while the Chiefs are favored to win this year’s Super Bowl, the Eagles are confident they can take down Patrick Mahomes and company.

“Great organization that we have, starting with (Chairman/CEO) Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie, (Executive Vice President/General Manager) Howie (Roseman),” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said after the team won the NFC title on Sunday, per the team’s official website. “I don’t think I’ve shied away from how much those guys mean to me. You can’t be great without the greatness of others, and it starts with Mr. Lurie. Howie does a great job of getting guys in here and helping there. Just to have that solid GM that’s been through everything is huge. Great partnership I have with him.”

The Eagles have gained attention for the number of Georgia players they selected. The one player who stands out is Jalen Carter who was named to his first Pro Bowl this season after collecting 42 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

As mentioned earlier, the Chiefs have five players from Oklahoma, and the one player who stands out is Creed Humphrey. The veteran offensive lineman was named to his third Pro Bowl this year and was also named to the All-Pro First Team.
