Talladega Superspeedway reveals slick new logo ahead of 2024 NASCAR season
Ahead of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season getting underway, the decision-makers at Talladega Superspeedway have given their track a face-lift.
Well, more on social media and branding-wise than the product on the track. Talladega revealed a new logo for their magnificent racetrack on Wednesday, as anticipation for a new campaign rises.
Check it out below, as Talladega Superspeedway shared a sweet video highlighting the change, where they harkened back to some of the best moments in the track’s history.
“Built to be big. Built to be bad. Built to be fast,” wrote Talladega Superspeedway on X (formerly known as Twitter), accompanying a hype-video for the new logo. “A new look but the same intense racing!”
Now that’s a fire logo. The last logo for the track was a memorable one, but this more fits the anything-can-happen vibe that Talladega presents. Of course, the action on the track will remain as amazing as ever, which is all fans really need to care about moving forward.
The NASCAR Cup Series will return to the track on April 21 for the Geico 500, and then again for the Yellawood 500 on October 6. We can’t wait to see the Cup Series, and NASCAR’s other series for that matter, back at Talladega for some sweet racing in 2024.
NASCAR’s Elton Sawyer comments on possibility of moving schedules up for future points races
Moreover, NASCAR’s Senior Vice President of Competition Elton Sawyer isn’t ruling out moving up future races if the weather report requires it, similar to this past weekend’s Clash at the Coliseum.

During an appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Sawyer was asked whether this could be another “page in the playbook” for NASCAR, as Mother Nature simply doesn’t agree with the sport during some weekends. While Sawyer relented it’d be more difficult for a points-paying race, he’s not ruling it out.
“I think there will be, in the days to come, and as we reflect on this past weekend at The Coliseum, and the thing that we learned and what we had to go through. Yes, it was unprecedented, but I think, just the way this industry has evolved over 75-plus years, I would never say never,” Sawyer explained. “There’s more challenges when it’s not an exhibition race, and we’re paying points and things of that nature. Credit to the garage area, the race teams, the drivers, who were able to get their cars ready. We got through inspection. We got them out there. We set the field. We basically eliminated the Heat Races, and we still were able to have practice and get the field set.
“So when you take all of those things into consideration, how that would work on a point-paying weekend, a few more challenges. But I think you look at it, you never say never and we just continue to learn.”
At the least, NASCAR is considering adding the decision to their arsenal. It may be more difficult at more prestigious races, but at least it’s good to know the decision-makers are weighing all of their options.
Regardless, it was certainly the right call from Elton Sawyer and company in Los Angeles. We’ll see what they decide to do in the future when similar issues come up again.
