Tampa Bay Buccaneers have made a move to add more pressure on opposing quarterbacks from the defensive line. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Buccaneers are signing veteran defensive end Carl Nassib. This will be Nassib’s second stint in Tampa Bay.

The six-foot-seven West Chester, PA, native enters season seven in the NFL after being selected from Penn State in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. After spending his first two seasons in Cleveland, Nassib joined the Buccaneers from 2018-2019. Nassib put together a solid two years in Tampa Bay, starting 17 games and recording 12.5 sacks in two seasons. He would go on to sign a three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders, including $16.75 million in guaranteed money. In a move to create more financial flexibility over the offseason, the Raiders cut Nassib in mid-March, just before the 2022 NFL Draft.

Nassib joins the Buccaneers with the intention of helping the team recapture the defensive line dominance that led them to a Super Bowl victory just two seasons ago. He will join a Tampa Bay front seven that features Pro Bowl defensive lineman William Gholston and Akiem Nicks.

Holmes appeared in nine games for the Nittany Lions as a true freshman. Following multiple injuries to both Noah Cain and Devyn Ford, he was forced into action last season, totaling 254 yards rushing on 56 carries.

The 5-foot-11, 211-pound running back’s most memorable performance at Penn State came during his true freshman season-finale in 2020 against Illinois. Holmes rushed for 77 yards on just 12 carries, while adding 19 yards receiving to go along with two touchdowns.

Holmes was a four-star recruit coming out of high school in Florida, per the On3 Consensus. He was recruited and offered by the likes of Ohio StateFlorida and Miami, among others, meaning he’ll have no shortage of offers coming his way once teams begin reaching out.
