Tampa Bay Buccaneers unveil new creamsicle uniforms
After a long offseason of buildup, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers finally unveiled their new creamsicle uniforms.
The team released a video narrated by Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks to show the world the throwback uniforms that are a nod to the ones worn in the 70s through the 90s.
The Buccaneers are planning to wear the creamsicle uniforms during their Week 6 matchup versus the Lions.
Brooks, who wore the Buccaneers uniform for all 14 years of his NFL career, was one of the last players to wear the creamsicle uniform before they discontinued it.
The former linebacker won a Super Bowl, earned the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, the NFL defensive MVP award and 11 Pro Bowl nominations while with Tampa Bay. He was an obvious choice for the team for their big unveiling moment.
The Bucs’ Oct. 15 meeting with the Lions comes in Week 6 of the NFL season, but will be the Bucs’ fifth game of the 2023 campaign. It comes one week after a bye.
Tampa Bay sported the Creamsicle uniforms from 1976-96 before switching to the pewter and red. The uniform is complete with the old-school “Bucco Bruce” logo on the helmet.
Buccaneers ready for QB competition
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are committing to letting a quarterback battle play out between former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask and former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield following the departure of Tom Brady.

Wideout Mike Evans opened up about the two Bucs quarterbacks this week, emphasizing his faith in either one at the helm of the offense.
“Kyle’s improved a lot,” Evans told Ari Alexander of KPRC. “I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen with Baker. Whoever the quarterback will be, I’m positive they’re going to make the right choice and we’re going to win some games.”
Despite a breakout season in his final year with the Gators, Trask has had little opportunity to lead in Tampa Bay since joining the team as a second-round pick in 2021. He played in one game last season, completing three passes on nine attempts for 23 yards.
On the other hand, Baker Mayfield has had plenty of opportunities to lead an NFL team. With the Cleveland Browns, Mayfield started for four seasons with the Browns before getting another shot with the Panthers.
In playing out the rest of the 2022 season with the Rams, the former Sooners star believes he may have revived his NFL career.
“I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason,” Mayfield said. “(It was the) first time I had fun playing football in a few years. It brought that feeling of having that success and really remembering what it was all about, Kind of hit the reset button for me.”
