Taysom Hill injury: New Orleans Saints TE carted off vs. Rams
New Orleans Saints tight end/quarterback Taysom Hill was carted off on Sunday, after he took a helmet to his knee in their game against the LA Rams. You can see footage of the hit here. He was carted off the field and taken back to the locker room for further medical evaluation. According to the Saints PR team, he was doubtful to return to the game due to a knee injury.

Hill has once again displayed his versatility for the Saints franchise this season, with 18 catches for 150 receiving yards. As a runner, he’s had 34 carries for 268 yards and six touchdowns. His best game came against the Cleveland Browns, when he had seven carries for 138 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Hill is feared to have suffered a season-ending knee injury. There is not a final diagnosis yet and he’ll have an MRI to determine the severity of his injury. It’s feared to be significant.
In his NFL career thus far, Hill was played in 99 games, hauling in 94 catches for 906 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. As a runner is where he’s done an extensive amount of his damage, with 432 total carries for 2,427 rushing yards and 33 total touchdowns. His highest rushing yardage total in a single season came in 2022, when he had 96 carries for 575 rushing yards.

As a passer, he’s completed 63.9% of his passes for 2,369 passing yards, while tossing in 11 touchdowns with nine interceptions. He’s averaged 7.8 yards per pass since 2018, when he first entered the league. One of the random NFL stats he owns–he has the most single-season touchdowns without a turnover by a quarterback (seven–2019).
Hill went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, where he eventually signed with the Green Bay Packers. He only lasted a few months with their roster, before signing with the New Orleans Saints. And he’s stayed there ever since.
Hill played his college football with the BYU Cougars, where he displayed his ability as a dynamic dual-threat quarterback under head coach Bronco Mendenhall. For his career with the Cougars, he completed 58.2% of his passes for 6,929 passing yards, while tossing in 43 touchdowns with 31 interceptions. As a runner, he had 534 carries for 2,813 rushing yards and 32 total touchdowns. He currently ranks sixth on the BYU all-time rushing leader list, just behind Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier (2,904 yards).
