Taysom Hill injury update: NFL insider reveals diagnosis, expected timeline for Saints TE
Saints tight end Taysom Hill left New Orleans’ 21-14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a knee injury. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided an update on Hill’s condition.
“Tests today showed that Tayson Hill’s got ligament damage,” Schefter said. “Out for the year.”
It’s a brutal update for Hill, who had already suffered two other injuries this season that required him to miss time. Shortly after Schefter provided his update, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Hill suffered a torn ACL and additional damage on Sunday.
The injury occurred in the fourth quarter when Hill was in at quarterback. It was a designed run for Hill, who seemingly took a helmet to the knee while gaining the first down on a fourth-and-one for the Saints. After absorbing the collision, Hill remained on the ground and was eventually carted off the field.
Before leaving the game, Hill recorded five catches for 37 yards. Additionally, he notched five carries for 10 yards in the ground game. Hill boasts 23 catches for 187 receiving yards this season.

At 34 years old, Hill is a well-respected veteran in the league. He’s been with the Saints since 2017 and is one of the Saints’ eight team captains. After the loss on Sunday, Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi discussed the impact of Hill’s injury on team morale.
“Taysom goes down, a lot of the guys are disappointed,” Rizzi said. “He’s obviously a very respected and well-liked guy in our locker room.”
Hill’s best game of the season came in the Saints’ 35-14 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 11. In the win, Hill erupted for 138 rushing yards and three touchdowns, becoming only the second player since 1950 to turn in 130-plus rushing yards, three or more rushing TDs and eight or more receptions in a single game.
