Team Hendrick pit crew wins 24 Hours of Le Mans pit stop competition in front of massive crowd
Team Hendrick showed up and showed out in the Pit Stop Challenge at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Tuesday.
The 24 Hours or Le Mans begins on Saturday, but events such as the Pit Stop Challenge take place all throughout the week prior, as it’s basically a celebration of motorsports. Well, Hendrick was able to do some serious celebrating themselves, as they walked away winners.
The Pit Stop Challenge featured Hendrick Motorsports topping a group of 16 squads in the GTE class, where Hendrick was classified for this event. According to the team, “they performed a NASCAR-style pit stop in 10.364 seconds and were the only team to use a manual jack. In the overall competition, the team placed fifth, just 0.3 seconds behind the top team.”
You can check out the pit stop below, where Hendrick took home the top spot in front of a raucous crowd on Tuesday.
That’s pretty awesome. Hendrick Motorsports and their drivers get plenty of shine, but it’s cool to see their pit crew guys get some love at such a fantastic event.
Afterwards, Evan Kureczka, Hendrick Motorsports’ Pit Crew Coach, waxed poetic about their performance in a press release from NASCAR.
“It was actually our fastest stop of the day, so I would say I was surprised, but also very pleased,” Kureczka said. “You can tell the fans were very impressed with the fact that we were using a jack to jack the car up. You could see the smiles on their faces, we put on a great show for the fans.”

Moreover, Hendrick named the members of their Pit Stop Challenge winning team, as their crew was made up of Dawson Backus (front-tire changer), Cody French (front-tire changer), Jarius Morehead (rear-tire carrier), Mike Moss (rear-tire changer) and Donovan Williams (jackman), the press release read.
Williams was elated to put on such a show and leave victorious, as well as represent Hendrick on a grand stage.
“This is a special moment to be able to represent Hendrick Motorsports, represent our families, America and NASCAR as a whole,” Williams said, via a NASCAR release. “We just relied on our training and it came into place instinctively. I think we all just went out there and performed and didn’t think too much.”
Hendrick Motorsports has dominated NASCAR over recent seasons, and it’s awesome to see their power on full display in other ventures as well. What a cool moment at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
