Tennessee Titans linebacker Bud Dupree pleads guilty to misdemeanor assault charge
Tennessee Titans linebacker Bud Dupree has pled guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge regarding his role in a fight that took place at a Walgreens earlier in 2022.
On Monday, TMZ Sports reported the latest development in the case pertaining to the former Kentucky star defender.
“Tennessee Titans linebacker Bud Dupree just pled guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from his role in a fight at a Walgreens earlier this year, TMZ Sports has learned,” wrote TMZ Sports. “The 29-year-old football player — according to a court official — appeared in a Nashville, Tenn. courtroom on Monday and made the plea after striking a deal with prosecutors.
“Dupree pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault offensive or provocative, the court official tells us.”
Additionally, TMZ Sports wrote that Dupree will face probation and be forced to pay court costs for the incident.
“Dupree was sentenced to unsupervised probation for 6 months, according to the official,” added TMZ Sports. “He also had to pay $418 in court costs.”
The altercation occurred back in January, where Dupree allegedly grabbed a 20-year-old male employee and his phone before another altercation before he left the store, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
The employee had a cut on his forehead and a female employee suffered a cut on her hand, according to The Tennesseean. At the time, the Titans issued a statement saying they “are aware of the situation and are gathering additional information.”

Dupree played college football at Kentucky before going No. 22 overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. He played for the Steelers from 2015-20 before signing with the Titans prior to this season.
Prior to last season, Dupree inked a five-year deal worth $82.5 million. During the 2021-22 season, he had 17 total tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble in 11 games, including five starts.
Moreover, TMZ Sports reported that the altercation allegedly started due to the employee heckling the Titans player, as well as threatening to spit on the women he was with, according to sources close to the situation.
While TMZ Sports reached out to Dupree’s representation for comment, they have yet to hear back.
Nevertheless, Bud Dupree is preparing to put this incident behind him and hope to play to his contract for the Tennessee Titans in 2022.
