The Tennessee Titans have released offensive tackle Jamarco Jones on Thursday afternoon, after he was tossed from multiple practices for multiple fights, including nearly sparking a brawl. The information was relayed on Thursday afternoon via Twitter from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. One of the players he attempted to fight was none other than superstar Jeffery Simmons.

On March 14th, 2022, Jones signed a two-year, $5.75 million deal with the Titans, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. That deal reportedly involved $3.15 million in guaranteed money. When he was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks, he signed a 4-year deal worth $2.7 million, which paid him an annual salary of $676,251.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel and General Manager Ran Carthon made an emphatic statement to the rest of the football team on Thursday following his release. The former Ohio State star was involved in two straight days of “unnecessary skirmishes” at practice and that was apparently enough for Vrabel to boot him off the roster.

The unfortunate aspect of his release is that Jones had a golden opportunity in front of him to win the starting right tackle position (for the first six games of the season).

Instead, he’s no longer with the franchise and now his future in the NFL is certainly in doubt.

He began his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks from 2018-2021. There, he played all over the offensive line, earning starts at the guard and tackle positions. A fifth-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft for Seattle, Jones appeared in 36 games for them, earning seven starts during his time there. The former Buckeye spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He had been with the Tennessee Titans since 2022.

He played his college football with the Ohio State Buckeyes, where he started for 27 consecutive games during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Jones played his high school football for De La Salle Institute which is in Chicago, Illinois. In the 2014 recruiting class, he was rated as one of the top players in the country. Jones was rated as the No. 81 overall prospect in that class and a four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

The Titans will now have to rely upon Chris Hubbard and a few younger players to maintain while Nicholas Petit-Frere serves a six-game suspension. The team could potentially choose to bring in another veteran in fall camp to replace Jones. It will certainly be interesting to see who steps up in fall camp for the Titans in the next few weeks.
