Terrion Arnold injury update: NBC provides update on Lions DB
After he was carted off the field during Sunday Night Football, NBC has provided an update on DB Terrion Arnold.
Per Melissa Stark, Arnold is questionable to return to tonight’s deciding matchup in the NFC and NFC North between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings.
“Cornerback Terrion Arnold – we saw him being helped off the field, putting zero pressure on his right leg. Clearly in a lot of pain. He was very emotional. He was immediately carted off. He is questionable with a foot injury.”
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also tweeted the latest on the rookie defensive back for the Lions.
“Terrion Arnold suffered a foot injury; the Lions say he is questionable to return tonight,” Schefter tweeted tonight.
Arnold exited the game with a pair of tackles and a deflection against the Vikings.
Arnold left on a cart because of that injury after a tackle on RB Aaron Jones in the third quarter. During that play, DL Al-Quadin Muhammad also rolled over the top of the two of them. Arnold then came off the field with the help of trainers but was then wheeled to the locker room.
Detroit already has enough injuries to deal with, especially on defense. However, Arnold could be getting an extra week of rest here, regardless of the severity of the injury, if the Lions finish their win and secure the bye from the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

Terry McAulay criticizes officials for missed intentional grounding on Jared Goff
In a game with massive implications, a close call in the second quarter involving QB Jared Goff could have resulted in a safety forced by the Minnesota Vikings defense. Instead, officials opted not to call intentional grounding on the Lions in the end zone.
Goff dropped to pass and saw immediate pressure from the Vikings. OLB Andrew Van Ginkel got pressure and was crawling toward Goff’s feet in the pocket, right as fellow LB Ivan Pace Jr. hit Goff in the midsection. The throw then went only a few feet forward, hitting a lineman in the process. There did not appear to be a receiver in the area with the closest target being TE Brock Wright at about 45 degrees to the right of the throw.
Terry McAulay, rules expert for Sunday Night Football, certainly thought the play should have been ruled as intentional grounding on Goff.
“He needs to throw it in the direction and vicinity of the receiver,” McAulay said. “He doesn’t throw it in the direction of 89 at all. He’s throwing it away from 89. I really believe this should have been a foul for intentional grounding.”
