Terry McAulay calls out refs over missed roughing the passer penalty on Jordan Love hit
It didn’t take long for things to get chippy in the Lions-Packers game on Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. Packers quarterback Jordan Love was drilled by a number of Lions defenders, including defensive lineman Za’Darius Smith, who hit him in the head with his hand. TNF Rules Analyst Terry McAulay was quick to call out the refs over the missed penalty.

“It sure looks like this is forcible contact to the head and neck area of the quarterback. Roughing the passer should’ve been called on this one,” McAulay explained on Thursday Night Football.
The Lions-Packers game was a pretty high scoring affair as expected, with the Lions leading 24-21 at the end of the third quarter. Jordan Love completed 12 of 20 passes for 206 passing yards, while tossing in a touchdown with no interceptions. The Packers took control early in the fourth quarter, scoring a touchdown to go up 28-24 with 13:54 left in the game.
Lions receiver Tim Patrick had one of his best nights in a long time, hauling in six catches for 43 yards and two touchdowns. It had been 1,082 days and two major injuries since Patrick scored a touchdown. He had two on Thursday night. And Detroit jumped back on top, leading the game 31-28 with 8:39 left in the fourth quarter. Packers running back Josh Jacobs had 18 carries for 66 yards and three touchdowns.

Love connected with speedster Christian Watson a number of times on TNF, with Watson reeling in four catches for 114 receiving yards. He also connected with Packers receiver Dontayvion Wicks on a number of occasions. The former Virginia star hauled in four catches for 49 receiving yards.
The Lions ended up winning 34-31. Detroit moved to 12-1 overall and 6-1 at home. And the Green Bay Packers dropped to 9-4 overall and 4-2 on the road.
