Texas duo Max Abmas, Dylan Disu sign undrafted free agent deals with Jazz, Raptors
Former Texas players Dylan Disu and Max Abmas are heading to the NBA. The duo signed deals after they didn’t hear their names called the 2024 NBA Draft.
Disu is set to sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Toronto Raptors, Texas men’s basketball announced Friday morning. Abmas, meanwhile, is preparing to play for the Utah Jazz in the NBA Summer League, according to The Athletic’s Tony Jones.
Disu put together his best season at Texas this past season, averaging a career-high 15.5 points to go with 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. It was an impressive leap forward in his third season with the program after starting his career at Vanderbilt.
Disu spent two years with the Commodores and had a strong sophomore season in 2020-21. He averaged 10 points and a career-high 9.2 rebounds before entering the transfer portal and taking his talents to Texas.
After his senior season, Disu could’ve declared for the NBA Draft. However, he opted to return to Austin for a fifth season of college basketball, and that decision paid off in a big way as he helped Texas to a 21-13 overall record, including a 9-9 record in SEC play.

During the pre-draft process, Dylan Disu was one of a handful of players to work out with the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 12. He came in as a projected late-second round or potential undrafted free agent ahead of the draft.
Disu played high school basketball at Hendrickson (Tx.) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 101 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As for Abmas, he was one of the best scorers in Division I history. He played four full seasons at Oral Roberts, including the 2021 season in which the Golden Eagles upset No. 2 seed Ohio State and came within a buzzer-beater of beating Arkansas to be the first 15-seed to advance to the Elite Eight. That year, Abmas averaged 24.5 points.
All told, Abmas averaged 16.8 points in his final year at Texas and ended his college career with 3,132 total points. That put him at No. 8 on the NCAA’s all-time scoring list. Now, he’ll look to compete for a spot on an NBA roster in the Summer League, which will officially begin July 12.
