Texas WR Xavier Worthy declares for 2024 NFL Draft

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy has made a decision on the 2024 NFL Draft. He has officially take his talents to the NFL, he announced via Instagram.

Worthy has been phenomenal over his time with the Longhorns. During the last three seasons, the wide receiver has amassed 195 receptions, 2,710 receiving yards and 26 receiving touchdowns, becoming one of the top pass catchers in the nation.

“Xavier Worthy made an instant impact on the Forty Acres after arriving at Texas as the nation’s second-best receiver prospect in the 2021 recruiting class out of Fresno’s Central East High School. In 2021, Worthy garnered multiple true freshman All-American honors and first-team All-Big 12 recognition. He was also selected as the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year after racking up 62 receptions for 981 yards and 12 touchdowns – all single-season UT freshman records. As a sophomore, Worthy was a second-team All-Big 12 pick after totaling 60 receptions for 760 yards and nine touchdowns,” Worthy’s On3 player profile reads.

“He entered the 2023 season as a unanimous preseason all-league pick and preseason watch list honors for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year, Biletnikoff Award, Paul Hornung Award and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. Worthy is majoring in Physical Culture and Sports. While in high school he ran a personal best 10.55-second 100-meter-dash time.”

The future is bright for Xavier Worthy’s shining star. He’ll continue his ascent on the football field in 2024.

The 2024 NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Michigan, with the first round on Thursday, April 25, the second and third rounds on Friday, April 26, and the fourth through seventh rounds on Saturday, April 27.

Players will have the opportunity to solidify their draft stock at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from February 26 through March 4.

The three-day event will be broadcasted throughout the weekend on ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility.

Last season, 69 players were granted special eligibility for the 2023 NFL Draft. 13 underclassmen who had completed their college degrees were also deemed eligible to be selected.

The deadline to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft is on January 15. NFL teams will receive a full list of eligible players in the class on January 19.
