For NASCAR fans in the Atlanta area, there will be a programming change on The CW with the Xfinity Series this weekend. WPCH-TV has decided to move The LiUNA! to the Peachtree Sports Network.

On Saturday, the Atlanta Braves spring training game is airing. So, that will take precedence over the Xfinity Series race on the main CW network.

TV agreements happen years in advance. There are many overlapping sports going on regionally and nationally. So, this is the compromise. In the Detroit area, The CW is making an exception and airing the race live on the app/website when there is a conflict.

“Tomorrow’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race will now air on Peachtree Sports Network for Atlanta viewers,” CW Sports said in a statement. “This decision was made locally by our Atlanta affiliate partner, WPCH-TV, due to a programming conflict with an Atlanta Braves spring training game. The CW would always prefer the Xfinity Series races to air live on the linear channels of all our affiliate partners, and we deeply regret the inconvenience this may cause for race fans in Atlanta.”

“ALTERNATIVE WAYS TO WATCH: Peachtree Sports Network, which is available for free over-the-air on channel 17.2, as well as Comcast, Spectrum and streaming on YouTube TV and Fubo.”

Some NASCAR fans have expressed frustration with The CW airing Xfinity Series races this season. While there have been great reviews on production and broadcast quality, there have been complaints. Most of them relate to what local affiliates are deciding to air instead of the NASCAR races.

NASCAR fans not happy about Xfinity Series decision on The CW

When it is a conflicting event with another live sports broadcast, there isn’t much you can do. The affiliates that are showing reruns of sitcoms instead of racing are the ones who should really be called out.

NASCAR fans are definitely not happy about the decision. They are letting their feelings be known, too.

Nexstar Media isn’t going to put the races on the app. Not nationally or regionally unless they must do it. So, sorry Atlanta fans, it isn’t happening. Even Jeff Gluck of The Athletic has had enough, airing out his frustrations.

I’m not going to lie, the fact it is spring training is ridiculous. The Xfinity Series at Las Vegas is MUCH more exciting, I guarantee you that.

You can’t blame NASCAR fans for being upset. They want to watch racing. It would be simple to put the race on the app or website, even if it is regionally. Here in Kentucky, last week’s postrace coverage was cut short for Louisville City FC soccer. I like Lou City. But I wanted to hear what Alex Bowman had to say about that bump from Aric Almirola.
