Still winless on the young NFL season, the Carolina Panthers will try to put their first tally in the “W” column this weekend. But that comes as a tough challenge, playing the Seattle Seahawks in one of the toughest environments in the league.

Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown said that one of the biggest concerns comes from crowd noise. So, during this week’s practice, there’s been an extra emphasis on that aspect of the game.

“One of the keys for success for us as a team, but also offensively, is going to be (to) handle the noise,” Brown said, per the team’s website. “For us, that means two reasons, right? One (is) being on the field when it comes to our communication, our operation, from a nonverbal standpoint with the noise when we can’t hear. But also the noise outside the building. …

“Just being able to be focused, continue to stay on the same path, be committed to our process and our approach. Excited for a new opportunity.”

Carolina starts the season 0-2, losing to a pair of division rivals. The Panthers dropped their season opener to the Atlanta Falcons, 24-10. Last weekend, the New Orleans Saints recorded a 20-17 victory.

Life doesn’t get much easier for Carolina this week in Seattle.

Kickoff between the Panthers and Seahawks is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET. The game airs on CBS.

Bryce Young misses another Panthers practice

Rookie quarterback Bryce Young missed a second straight practice on Thursday. The No. 1 overall pick suffered an ankle injury during last weekend’s game against New Orleans.

NFL veteran Andy Dalton is receiving most of the reps during practice. However, Jake Luton is also getting some work. Brown said he wants everyone in the room ready to go.

“Everybody on our roster gets reps, whether it be look squad reps, whether it be actually with the offense or defense,” Brown said. “We’re all in the same meetings, all getting coached the same way. And you’re obviously one play away, across the board, everybody. So you’re expected to be ready to go.”

Young’s status for Sunday’s game against Seattle remains unknown. Through two games, he’s completed 47-of-71 pass attempts for 299 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. The rookie has also rushed for 51 yards in two contests.

This will be something everyone continues to monitor as Young is just two games into his NFL career.
