Tiger Woods was positive about where the sport of golf is heading while speaking on it at The Genesis Invitational on Sunday.

Woods discussed the state of professional golf while on set with CBS Sports this evening in San Diego. He expressed optimism in the direction in which they’re heading, especially with one meeting in the books and another to come with President Trump.

“I think we’re in a very positive place right now,” Woods said. “We had a meeting with the president. Unfortunately, I had some other circumstances that, that came up. But Jay (Monahan), Adam (Scott) – they did great during the meeting. We have another subsequent meeting coming up so I think that things are going to heal quickly.”

“We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. It’s been headed the wrong direction for a number of years,” said Woods.

Golf is trying to come back together again following a separation the past few years between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. That has split the field of where the world’s best golfers are all playing right now with two separate leagues. However, President Trump is now part of those negotiations between the PGA and the Public Investment Fund in Saudi Arabia in hopes of them coming to an agreement after a year and a half of work.

Again, this is all about bringing the best names in golf back to the same course someday soon.

“The fans want all of us to play together, all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen,” said Woods.

“Yes, (it could be this year),” Woods said as for a timeline for this process.

Golf has had a sense of separation for nearly a half decade now. That could soon come to an end, though, with the efforts of the new administration in office as well as the leading names in the sport.
