Those in the sport of golf are continuing to work toward the future of their game with the new administration in Washington D.C.

On Thursday, PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan along with Tiger Woods and Adam Scott are meeting with officials at the White House according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach. It’s undetermined, though, if President Trump was or is in attendance for that meeting today.

This is the latest effort this month between this presidency and some of the biggest names in golf regarding this matter. Trump, Monahan, and Scott had previously met about the same topic on February 4th.

This comes as another part of the negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. The two sides reached an agreement back in June of 2023 with those discussions now continuing into 2025. The financing, which is reportedly for a total of $1.5 million, from the Public Investment Fund in Saudi Arabia, is under review by the U.S. Department of Justice to determine the legality of it with it also creating general concerns about where that money is coming from.

At the Genesis Invitational in San Diego last week, Woods, as well as Monahan, commented on these efforts and how they can best impact what’s next for golf.

There’s obvious momentum to try bring the entire game of golf back together again rather than being fractured. Still, there’s more to do to finish what has been over a year and a half now of discussions.

Woods on the state of golf: ‘I think we’re in a very positive place right now’

Tiger Woods was positive about where the sport of golf is heading while speaking on it at The Genesis Invitational on Sunday.

Woods discussed the state of professional golf while on set with CBS Sports this evening in San Diego. He expressed optimism in the direction in which they’re heading, especially with one meeting in the books and another to come with President Trump.

“I think we’re in a very positive place right now,” Woods said. “We had a meeting with the president. Unfortunately, I had some other circumstances that, that came up. But Jay (Monahan), Adam (Scott) – they did great during the meeting. We have another subsequent meeting coming up so I think that things are going to heal quickly.”

“We’re going to get this game going in the right direction. It’s been headed the wrong direction for a number of years,” said Woods.

Again, this is all about bringing the best names in golf back to the same course someday soon.

“The fans want all of us to play together, all the top players playing together and we’re going to make that happen,” said Woods.

“Yes, (it could be this year),” Woods said as for a timeline for this process.
